Spooky Halloween Family Tour at Durham Castle

29 October @ 12:45 pm - 5:00 pm

£4.50 – £5

Steady your nerves for a unique and atmospheric family tour around Durham Castle.

You will take part in a guided tour through the building and learn its gruesome and dark history – meet the Castle resident ghosts and hear their ghastly tales! At the end of the tour spend some time in Great Hall and get creative with frightful crafts and Halloween family activities.

Your family tour will include:

  • Spine-tingling stories told by our Castle Guides
  • Halloween inspired crafts in the Great Hall
  • The chance to meet characters from the darker side of Durham Castle

Fancy dress is encouraged so wear your best Halloween costume and join us!

This tour is mostly suitable for children aged 5-11 years as very young children may find some aspects of the tour frightening.

Tickets are required for both adults and children.

About your visit:

Please meet at Palace Green Library (next to the Castle) ten minutes before the start of the tour and to collect your lanyard from the reception desk.

The historic nature and layout of the Castle means that the majority of the building is inaccessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs. The tour route involves some steps and staircases, some of which are uneven. Tours and activities will last approximately 1 ½ hours.

There is no parking on the site. The nearest car park is the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre Car Park, postcode DH1 3UJ. Our website provides more details about how to find us www.dur.ac.uk/durham.castle/visit/location/

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome, family pets are not permitted.
