Guided Tour – Hidden Voices: the Women of Durham Castle

Join us on a bespoke guided tour of Durham Castle and discover more about some of the women who shaped its history.

Hidden Voices: the Women of Durham Castle invites you to walk through the building as one shaped not only by bishops and power, but by the women who lived, worked and resisted within its walls. Across the course of this bespoke tour, we will bring forward the often forgotten voices of the women who challenged expectations and shaped life at the castle.

Through these stories, Durham Castle becomes something more than a monument – it becomes a lived space, marked by labour, family, and identity.

The tour follows the celebration of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, placing women at the centre of the story of Durham Castle.

Everybody is welcome, so come on your own or bring your friends and family, and explore new spaces and stories that haven’t been shown before.
