The Red Lion pub on the corner of Ramsgate and West Row in Stockton-on-Tees town centre is to go up for auction this month with a £160,000 guide price.
The 19th century pub is set to be sold in the next live streamed sale to be held by SDL Property Auctions, which is part of Eddisons, on 23 October, along with over 160 other properties and plots of land.
Currently vacant and covering 3,000 sq ft over three storeys, the building, which is situated in the town centre conservation area and was originally a shop, has been flagged by the Stockton Gateway Townscape Heritage scheme as one of the town’s notable historic buildings. It is singled out for its unusually ornate windows and evidence of having been extended over the centuries.
“This is a handsome pub with three-bedroom residential accommodation on the upper floors. It’s in a great location in Stockton town centre and is a well-known venue. It would be great if a new buyer could be found at auction, to give the historic Red Lion a new lease of life.”
Andrew Parker, auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions
